Martina Medical Mission

Martina Medical Mission is a non-profit medical organization that works internationally to transfer pediatric expertise to regions where access to highly specialized care is limited. The organization is an independent part of Martina Children’s Hospital funded by sponsors and donated funds. We accept donations.

The film is from a mission to the University Teaching Hospital of Kigali in Rwanda (2020) where a team of pediatric surgeons from several hospitals in Sweden traveled on behalf of the Ministry of Health in Rwanda to help develop pediatric surgery in the country. A total of 52 operations were performed for educational purposes with Rwandan doctors and nurses.

We work for sustainable pediatric knowledge transfer where it is needed most

It is important for Martina Medical Mission to operate in a country where the entire population has access to care and that the country is democratic and has low corruption parameters. We go on week-long missions approximately 3–4 times per year and perform life-saving complicated malformation surgery on children, always in collaboration with existing expertise on site in the operating room.

Mission Rwanda 2021
